Intelligent Energy Management

We are all emotional human beings and on our continuous journey of life, it is common to feel disconnected from ones emotions from time to time.

There becomes a need to increase self-awareness and sometimes this can be difficult to navigate.

Think to yourself, what are some negative emotions that you experience, or how did a past bad experience make you feel? Also, think about renewing emotions or how a great past experience made you feel. If it helps, build a chart, either in your mind or draw it on a piece a paper. Work to replace the negative emotions with the renewing emotions to build a stable emotional table, upon which you can continue to evolve.

Now that we recognize both our negative emotions and renewing emotions, we need to ask ourselves, what boosts our energy and triggers Renewing emotions?

This could be anything from, walking your dog, a warm bath, good food, video games, hanging out with friends and loved ones, these are the experiences and activities that we must learn to utilize to transition from negative emotions to renewing emotions.

Once we are able to increase our self-awareness we are able to hold our self more accountable in how we respond in certain situations and we can be more effective in our emotional energy management.

Picture in your mind a horizontal line that splits your vison in two. The line represents your automatic response to a variety of situations, good and bad.

  • Operating above the line is where there is a growth mindset and exhibiting positive thinking. It’s all about ownership, acceptance accountability and responsibility.
  • Operating below the line is where there is a fixed mindset and negative outlook on situations. It’s about denial, excuses, defensiveness and blame.

We can identify where we are preforming in all aspects of our lives and change our actions and how we respond accordingly. How are we approaching certain situations of hardship? Are we operating above the line or below the line?

Sometimes it’s easy to lose sight, get overwhelmed and not hold our emotions accountable. Truly understanding ourselves and emotions is life long journey. One that we must commit to, because we must find value in ourselves and in our thoughts, because we deserve it.
